Only 1315 miles!The BMW S 1000 XR is one of the few motorcycles that can genuinely do just about everything—and do it at a very high level. It has the upright riding position and all-day comfort of a sport-touring bike, but the moment you open the throttle or point it into a corner, it feels much more like a superbike with handlebars.The inline-four engine is smooth and manageable around town, but it absolutely comes alive as the revs build. There is serious power available whenever you ask for it, whether you are making a quick pass, climbing a mountain road or stretching its legs on the highway. The acceleration is exciting, but the electronics and refined throttle response make the bike feel controlled rather than overwhelming.What stands out most when riding the XR is how light and precise it feels for such a capable motorcycle. The wide handlebars provide excellent leverage, the chassis changes direction easily and the suspension keeps the bike composed through fast sweepers, rough pavement and tight corners. It feels planted at speed without ever feeling heavy or cumbersome.The riding position is upright and comfortable, with good wind protection and enough room to spend a full day in the saddle. Add luggage and it becomes an exceptional long-distance machine.
